We're building a brooder. Dewayne has a really neat design. (It sounds neat anyway...haven't seen it yet, it's still in his head, lol)
That's one of this weekend's projects. We started on it the other night but got rained out and it was getting late. The floor and one side is done.
We have some chicks ordered and will go pick them up next week. We ordered 2 Black Laced Golden Wyandotte cockerels, 10 pullets and 2 roosters of the Columbian Wyandottes, 10 pullets and 2 cockerels of the Dominiques. We may get more of the Black Laced Golden Wyandotte pullets when we get there, depending on money.
Hopefully the brooder will be finished and ready for the young ones to grow up in. It will be so much easier to keep them clean and they will have plenty of room to grow.
All of these birds, added to what we already have, will be our breeding flock.
We raise pedigreed Californian and Rex rabbits. We are members of the American Rabbit Breeders Association. We are DIYers of many things and enjoy the outdoors. We are beginners at a lot of things, aiming at being experts, but happy with where we currently are.
